Andrew Kenney

Sorry for the delays in my posts but it has been a long rough week end, Heather and I had to travel to Winchester VA for the funeral of her 23 year old cousin, Andrew.  Andrew was a great young man; he was hard working dedicated and a man of great character.  He busted his butt to get what he wanted and never complained about having to work.  All through his three months of suffering with a cancer that surrounded his spine and lungs he never complained or lost hope.  He is a man of faith and now I am sure he is bass fishing to the glory of God in heaven.  His memory inspires me to be a greater man and like his father always said “Hope to be like him when I grow up”

There were people waiting in line at his viewing from 4-8 when the funeral home cut things off and people had still not all gotten in at 9:00.  His funeral held over one thousand people all touched in some way or another by his life, it was a great testament to a life lived for God.  I ask everyone who may read this to pray for the family as they come to grips with their lives.

How did I not see this??!??!?!?

Lost Spoilers follow.

Weekend Update

Weekend update

This weekend I had a few thoughts to expand on, one happened on my trip to COSI and the other at Brice UMC on Sunday. They are totally unrelated but I thought I would combine them anyway.

The Pursuit of Happyness

Pursuit of Happyness

After viewing this film over the weekend I felt compelled to get some things out in the open. This is the story of Chris Gardner a man who spends his lift savings to buy a exclusive rights to sell a bone density scanner in the New York Area only to discover that they don’t sell as well as he would have hoped. He then hits a streak of bad luck where he and his son spend their lives on the streets while he pursues an internship at Dean Whiter. As in the perfect Hollywood ending Chris gets the job, and eventually opens his on trading house and eventually sells it in a multi-million dollar deal. The only thing I could think of while watching this movie was…

I KNEW IT!!!!

If you watch ‘LOST’ then you know exactly what I am talking about. If not then don’t bother.

Always trust Sayid, he has been right every time. A man only has enough blood to work one head at any moment and right now all of Jack’s blood is in the wrong place.

Read the whole thing before you send me nasty messages.  I came to this conclusion not after months of research or philosophical debate but after I listened to a GREAT message on my way home from West Virginia.  The message was “Hermeneutical and Exegetical Integrity” by Scott Golike.

Dear Pastor Saul

This is a letter I found written to Pastor (King) Saul, it equally reflects some views on the modern religious church.

Dear Saul,

I am writing this to inform you that I am leaving your church system. I know that a letter is not the best way to do things but I figured that without my informing you, you may not have even realized that I had left.

It is really no surprise that you would not have noticed my being gone- I was not one of those that you seem to prefer for a member; I was no doctor, lawyer or wealthy businessman. I am only a working class believer without huge amounts of money to throw into the offering basket or huge amounts of time to spend frequenting all of your social programs.
