The Big Bang Theory

No this isn’t a discussion of string theory or anything by Stephen Hawking, since I am assuming the holiday will slow down traffic here I have decided to write about things that are a little lighter. So, this is a request for everyone to watch what I believe to be the funniest show out this season, “The Big Bang Theory”

I normally don’t watch shows their first season because I am afraid of the heart break they will bring in the event they are canceled but this one caught my attention and I had to try it. It is a show filled with clever and intelligent humor much in the vein of “Frasier” but with a little more geek thrown in for flavor. Check out the youtube page for more clips but you must try this show Mondays on CBS…

30 days of crap

I have rarely walked out of a movie and been so upset with myself, in fact I would say that this is the most angry I have ever been after watching a movie, and I have seen “Powder”, “Dungeons and Dragons”, and “Dracula 2000″ “30 Days of Night” was by far the worst movie I have ever seen. I wasn’t very thrilled about seeing it to begin with but I was out voted by some friends who wanted to see it.

Random Thoughts

  • I saw a report of Foxsports.com about the new “Worlds fastest Man” a title given to the man who holds the world record in the 100M dash.  The link said, click here to see highlights of his record breaking run.  How does one edit down highlights of a 9.74 second race?
  • Walking down the hall at work I am accosted by signs with factoids about the work being done by the United Way.  Now I don’t give to them due to some moral disagreements but the issues they discuss are volunteer groups keeping streets safe, calls to food banks, kindergarten kids in trouble, and I can’t help but think that if the church was doing its job these things wouldn’t be necessary.
  • The more I think about the quote “It is easy to sound prophetic from the margins but what we need is people who are prophetic from the center” the more I truly believe it.  It quote was from John Piper talking about the loss of the Gospel as the central theme of sermons in America.
  • I found out that “LOST” isn’t coming back until May but it will run straight instead of that crappy 8 week break.  And that it will only be going for 6 seasons, it is good to know that there will be some finality.
  • It is simply amazing how much paperwork you have to do in corporate America.  When the paper work takes more time than the actual work you are doing the paperwork for something is wrong.
  • “The Big Bang Theory” is probably the best new show I have seen recently, it seems that since I became a father I don’t want to watch Law and Order CSI or any of those more serious drama shows, and most comedies haven’t struck a chord with me but this show is great.  It will probably hit with the same crowd that watched “Frasier” because many of the jokes are based on intellectual and geek issues, if you get a chance check it out, if you really get a chance DVR it and pause it on the producers “vanity card”.
  • Sorry I have been out of blogging for a minute, our family has had a great deal of drama over the last week.  Heather’s purse was stolen our of our van at Blockbuster but a few days later the dufas threw out her wallet but missed the dumpster and it was found by the apartment manager so we got everything back but our cash and debit card which we had already canceled.  Ironically, most of the cash that was still in her wallet was our charity money so we decided God wanted us to give to this guy money so we are just thankful to have all of her other stuff back.

Helz Angel

Ok, it isn’t my normal post, I am working on something more substantial but this is my first Youtube video. If you don’t know we are spoofing Criss Angel, because EVERYONE on his show is a plant. They all work for him.

Smokin’ Weed with Jesus?

No it isn’t just a catchy title to grab your attention although I think it will do that as well. I was watching Ralphie May’s “Girth of a Nation” comedy special and from the info page of my DVR it said one of the topics was doing drugs with Jesus, I was nervous but why not. I actually think he had some profound things to say especially in looking at how the Gospel would be written to a certain group of people.

I have been devoting all of my spare time since Saturday morning to reading the final installment of the Harry Potter story, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and I just feel the need to get a few things off of my chest about it, if you have not read it yet move on as I do not want to be responsible for your spoilage…. So the New York Times reviews Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.  The nature of this review upsets J.K Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter series.  The NYT apologizes for perhaps having spoiled the books for all of the fans.

Where is the apology for releasing top secret information about the war on terror?  I am a pretty big Potter head but I am still waiting for the apology from the times for aiding our enemies in the war and perhaps putting more of our troops in danger.

Does the NYT really believe that then end of Deathly Hallows deserves more respect than top secret information?  But I guess J.K Rowling has more of a spine than our President because at least she took it to the times instead of just sitting back and letting it happen.
